1963 Porsche 356 B in Atlanta, GA

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/4034724569.html

This ’63 356 is said to be a good driver. It doesn’t have the original engine and is said to have bondo and patches in it but these early Porsches are sky rocketing in value. The 356 B’s are the least desirable (although its truly hard to call this undesirable) of all of the 356’s but this one has been upgraded to “C” brakes which puts discs on all four corners and makes it much more drivable. The good thing about a car like this is that you can run it hard and not worry about beating up a museum piece or something that you’d need to mortgage to afford. Find it on Craigslist in North Atlanta with an asking price of $29k.

French TVT-92 in the UK

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300950799697?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Here’s a clean example of one of the first widely used carbon frames in the pro peleton. This TVT-92 isn’t branded as something else which wasn’t as common in those days. The Dura Ace 7401 7-speed groupo looks clean and the rest of the build is period correct. Find this one on eBay in Leicestershire, UK with a reasonable Buy-It-Now price of $771.

American Made 1992 Basso Laguna

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271263898401?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Here’s an interesting one from a shop called Vintage-Steel out of Germany. Its a ’92 Basso Laguna which was their first monocoque carbon frame but it was built in Van Buren, Maine by Aegis. This frame wears a Dura Ace 7400 groupo and all looks to be in nice shape. Check out www.steel-vintage.com for a wide array of cool old bikes.

1962 Auto Union 1000 in Tennesee

http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/4025679587.html

Since we already came across an NSU this week we thought we’d throw in an Auto Union that was developed from a DKW to complete the Audi family. This ’62 Auto Union 1000 is an evolution of the DKW 3=6 (not the best of names unless they’re trying to trick us into thinking everything is twice as good!) Originally it used a 981cc two stroke engine that powered the front wheels with a blistering 50bhp and coaxed it to a top speed of 80mph. Zero to 100kph took a whopping 23 seconds so this probably had trouble getting out of its own way. The original engine from this 1000 is long gone but the body, glass and interior remain. With an asking price of $500 you could afford to drop in pretty much any power plant and bank on increasing the performance. Don’t look to make this a super car but you’ll get the looks if you can get it back on the road. Find it on Craigslist in Winchester, TN.

1970 NSU 1200 – Strange Car of the Week

http://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/4030130426.html

This is rare to see on our shores but up in the hills of North Carolina we’ve come across this 1970 NSU 1200. 1970 marks the first full year after NSU was taken over by Volkswagen and folded in with DKW and Auto Union to produce Audi. The 1200 was a rebranded Type 110 and shared much of the same mechanicals. The 1177cc air-cooled straight four cylinder engine boasts 54hp and is mounted transversely in the rear. We doubt that the stinger style tailpipes are stock but without bumpers we see rally potential all over this one. Find it on Craigslist in Hickory, NC having just been reduced from $2500 to $2000.

1972 Datsun 240Z outside Atlanta

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/3965154943.html

These are some of the worst pictures used to sell a car that we’ve seen in a while but this ’72 Z-car may be worth a look. Its a 240 so its the most desirable of these and if the rust is limited to the floor board and under the battery as the ad states then it may be an easy fix. Find this one on Atlanta Craigslist in McDonough for $2500. If it checks out, grab it because these early Z-cars aren’t getting any cheaper.

1972 MGB in Alabama

http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/4008396804.html

We came across this ’72 MGB on Craigslist in Birmingham and it looks appealing. No claims of any issues and while it doesn’t have the more desirable overdrive transmission at $2500 you could easily make the swap and still not be upside down.

Early 60’s Italian barn finds

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/3959247179.html

Here’s a trio of Italian roadsters found in a barn in Griffin, GA. Two look to be early 60’s Fiat 1200s and you can just make out the tail end of what we think is an Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1300. These will need a lot of work for sure but Alfas and Fiats from this era aren’t getting any easier to find. These are listed on Craigslist for $1250 each.

1960 Borgward Isabella Coupé project

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/3971302844.html

Here’s a rare one to see on our shores. The Borgwards were made in Bremen, Germany until 1962 and were pretty run of the mill family cars until the launch of the coupé in 1957. The Isabellas are powered by a not-so-impressive 75hp 1.5 liter four cylinder mated to a four speed manual transmission but the coupé looked much more exotic and would have been at home on the streets of Milan. Somehow this Borgward ended up in Rockmart, GA and while it needs a lot of work it will stand out in a crowd. Find this on Craigslist with a steep asking price of $3000 considering the work needed.

“Not a” Steal of a deal on a 1967 MGB GT

**UPDATE 8-23-13** Seller has re-listed the BGT on Atlanta Craigslist for $6000! If we wait another few days it may become the most expensive GT ever!!

**UPDATE 8-19-13** Seller has pulled the CL ad in favor of letting us duke it out on eBay. Keep an eye out but be wary as he’ll probably up the reserve to the $5k region

http://athensga.craigslist.org/cto/3995978730.html

Found on Craigslist in Athens, GA. This ’67 BGT looks really clean, especially for the asking price of $3,000. The ivory white paint and steel wheels with chrome hubcaps suit this MG well. Snatch this one quickly as it probably won’t be for sale for long.
