’72 BMW 2002 Shell

Clint from Maryville, TN who’s a friend of the shop has this ’02 body up for sale. The rear shock towers, floors and rockers are said to be very sound. Use this shell in place of a rusty square taillight ’02 or start from scratch to build a vintage rally or track car. Asking price is $750 or best offer. Reply to this post if you’re interested.

Restoration Ready: 1958 VW Single Cab Truck

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1570632

Up for sale on The Samba is a ’58 Single Cab Splitty project. This truck is remarkably sound and ready for a restoration. The previous owner media blasted the truck from stem to stern so there’s nothing to hide. The truck is equipped with period offroad goodies including coil-over front shocks and air-adjustable rear units. The rear wheel arches were cut to accommodate oversized knobbies but the original steel road wheels and tires are included.

The original engine is long gone but a 1600 dual port that is out to rebuild (it turns freely) is included. The truck bed is solid as are the rear floor pans. The front pans have been patched however new pans are included. Other new panels include a pair of jack points, a new lower nose panel and driver’s side rocker.

The front and rear glass along with the tail lights and turn signals are gone.

Rebuild the engine, add a set of Safari windows and clear coat the body to have one tough shop truck or start a ground up restoration without having to guess at what lurks beneath old fixes and resprays.

Hard to find: New French style 5 3/4″ Round Amber Headlights

http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/4205149643.html
Check out this posting on Portland’s Craigslist for sets of  5-3/4 inch round Amber headlights. The seller has multiple sets and $40 seems very reasonable. Nationwide shipping is $15 so we’re going to order up a few sets for that true vintage French fog light look!

Alarmingly Cool Transporter: 1980 Volkswagen German Ambulance

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1478515

Imagine picking the kids up from school in this Vanagon. Up for sale on The Samba is a 1980 Transporter (Vanagon to us) Ambulance imported from Germany. The owner claims it to be a factory built ambulance complete with sliding stretcher, high/low German siren, Hella blue roof light and a bunch of other specialty goodies. This bus is in Austin, TX and has been registered in the US so transferring to another state shouldn’t be a problem. Find is at the above link for $6,000.

UK Ford Import: 1960 Ford Anglia in South Carolina

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/eat/cto/4185721817.html

Tap your inner Harry Potter (actually it belonged to the Weasley family if we’re getting technical) with a good deal on a 1960 Ford Anglia. We found this Anglia on Craigslist in Greer, South Carolina and it looks pretty sound. The seller claims to have a spare fuel cell and extra fiberglass fenders which baffles the mind because the last thing we think of with a car like this is to take it racing. Either way this would be a fun in-town runner.

Another ’87 Audi GT in North Carolina

http://eastnc.craigslist.org/cto/4019197644.html

This is an interesting one that has us a bit stumped. As we’ve seen with the last post Audi GT’s aren’t that uncommon, especially in North Carolina for some reason. This 1987 GT has the earlier non-body painted bumpers and sports some very cool 80’s five-ring graphics. What has us puzzled on this one is the all digital instrument panel (see pictures in the post). As there aren’t any wheel flares we don’t surmise this to be an UR-Quattro but without seeing the backend its hard to be sure. The seller claims that its one of three imported for “rally races”. We don’t buy the import figures but every other 80’s Audi that we’ve come across uses standard VDO analog gauges. The engine may need a rebuild soon but for $1500 it may be worth a look. Find it above on Craigslist in Havelock, NC

1987.5 Audi GT

http://asheville.craigslist.org/cto/4125616524.html

We came across this Audi GT in Black Mountain, North Carolina. While the GT isn’t as desirable as it’s UR-Quattro sibling it none the less looks the part, especially with the latter euro bumpers that this wears. The interior looks near perfect as does the paint and trim. There isn’t a very long description but if you’re in the general vicinity it’d be worth a look. Find it above on Craigslist with an asking price of $4500.

1972 Porsche 914 in South Carolina

http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/4094276126.html

We came across this well sorted ’72 914 in Greenville, South Carolina. The original 1.7 has been replaced with a 2.0 liter and the fuel injection swapped for a pair of Weber 40 idf downdrafts. Overall this looks like a very clean driver. The seller claims that there is some rust repair in the dreaded hell hole but that the rest of the car is rust free. There seem to be a lot of spare parts that accompany the sale. We like the 914 Fuchs and euro turn signals both front and rear that this one is sporting. Check it out on Craigslist for $6500 which is said to be negotiable. If anyone buys it let us know how it turns out!

1979 Alfa Romeo GT Veloce

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/4103035371.html

Here’s a ’79 Alfa GTV that we found just south of Atlanta. This body style, shared with the GTV6, is one of the best looking Alfas of the 80’s and this one looks great sans bumpers and with big round driving lights. The GTV features a twin cam 2.0 liter four with twin sidedraft Webers. Find it here on Craigslist from an owner that claims to have extensive experience with the marque.

Another Grey Market ’85 BMW e30

This time we’ve dug up a 320i in Charlotte, NC. This 1985 Grey Market e30 is a 4-door and has a bit more grunt than the 316 that we featured earlier today. The original 2.0l four that this car would have had has been replaced with an M50 straight six from a ’92 e30 and extensive work has been done to the suspension. The plaid interior, vintage BBS’s and manual transmission make this much more desirable in our book. Find it on Craigslist with an asking price of $8000.
