Shark-nosed Coupe: 1978 BMW 633CSi
Found here on eBay is a very original 1978 BMW 633csi. This shark-nose 6er wears its original Schwarz black on Veloursrot red color combination. The car was repainted in the last five years and the paint looks good. Inside the front and rear seats have been recently recovered and they are in like-new condition.
The 3.2liter straight six starts easily and runs great. There is a small oil drip that only shows itself after the car has been sitting for about a week. Other than that, everything is dry underneath. Recent engine work includes a tune up, oil and filter change, new air filter and new belts. On a recent trip to The Vintage BMW show outside Asheville, NC the car ran flawlessly and was a blast to take through the twisty mountain roads. Sixteen inch basket weave BMW wheels are shod with brand new tires and B&G lowering springs have been added to a new set of Bilstein shock absorbers. The original springs are included with the sale in case the next owner would like to put it back to the stock ride height.
Inside, all of the heater, blower fan, Alpine stereo, front power windows and gauges function as they should short of the odometer. The previous owner claims that the car has roughly 75-100k on it, which is consistent with the wear present. The passenger side rear window works well however the driver’s side window does not. The sunroof works using the manual crank in the trunk but the electric switch has gone out. The headliner is a bit tired and the dashboard is cracked which is common for e24’s.
Georgia is a no-title State for cars 1981 and older. The previous owner lost the original title for this BMW and Georgia does not issue new titles for old cars. Instead, a VIN check was processed by the police department that came back clear and the tag issued on that. The car will be sold on a bill of sale only. For states requiring title for registration I will provide a tag receipt, letter from the State of Georgia and Bill of Sale.
This is a great first generation 6 series grand tourer that loves eating up mile after mile with ease.
Feel free to email with questions or to arrange a time to see the car.

One Sweet Airhead: 1978 BMW R80/7
Up for sale is my 1978 R80/7.
I’ve owned and ridden this bike for the last 6 years and it has always been good to me. The Euro handlebars are slightly narrower than the original American bars and bar-end turnsignals have replaced the original units. The saddle has been recently recovered and is in great shape. Krauser hard cases and rear rack are in great condition as well. The Porsche anniversary silver paint shines and there isn’t any rust on the bike. The wheels are true, the Michelin Macadam tires have plenty of life in them and the front and rear shocks are good.
78,341 miles. Feel free to contact me with questions or to come see the bike. $5500
Rare & early ’02: 1968 BMW 1600
Found here on eBay is this very original BMW 1600.
This 1968 Granada Red BMW 1600 was owned by one family from new until I purchased it in 2012. The original owner’s mother bought the car from Hoffman Imports on April 23rd, 1968. The car then lived a healthy life in Connecticut until it was moved to Colombia, South Carolina in the late 70’s. Stacks of receipts and records track nearly every service and oil change over the last 47 years.
1968 was the second year of production for what was known in Europe as the 1602. There are several parts and details on these early cars that changed from ’69 on. The smooth Euro front indicators remain and there are no side reflectors. The silver belt trim features textured wide oval sections that disappeared on newer cars and the lower black rubber trim is absent. The famous kidney grille and headlight grilles are all aluminum compared to the newer black plastic units. The Roundie taillights feature red turn signals compared to the amber versions that followed. Inside are factory low-back front bucket seats and a set of non-retractable seatbelts. The instrument cluster houses a factory clock in place of the tachometer that most 2002’s and newer cars had. Underneath is a rare long nose differential, early master cylinder with remote brake booster and a complete set of five steel wheels date coded 12/67. The early hubcaps are present complete with the rare separate beauty rings. Keen eyed 02 enthusiasts will notice the smaller 6-fuse box compared to the 12 fuse version that followed. Although many of the ’67 1600’s had 6-volt power this car is one of the first to swap over to 12-volt.
The 1600 is in very original condition. In the late 90’s the original 1.6l powerplant was swapped for a rebuilt 2.0l from a ’74 2002. The only other changes the owner made over the years were the installation of a FIAMM air horn (yes, it sounds like a Ferrari) and a Pioneer tape deck in place of the original Blaupunkt am/fm unit. A Weber 32/36 DGEV Carburetor has been installed but the original SU and airfilter will accompany the sale. Most recently a larger radiator and electric cooling fan from an e30 were installed to help things stay cool. The original radiator and fan will also be included. The 1600 runs, drives and stops.
Mechanical tasks on the horizon will be new motor mounts and exhaust hangers. The common rust spot on these cars are the rear shock towers and the trunk floor. These are in fantastic shape with no rust at all. The trunk and engine bay show no sign of an accident and are very straight. The floorboards are also in good shape. As this is a sunroof car it is pretty common for the drainage channels to rust the rockers below the door hinge. This car does have rust in the rockers that will need to be addressed and there is also rust in front of the pedal box.
This is a great opportunity to grab an early ’02. Values are on the rise and this 1600 would be a great car to make a daily driver or a good candidate for a full restoration. The car is in Athens, GA. Feel free to email with questions or to arrange a time to come and see it.

Buy them up now: 1972 BMW 2002 in Nashville, TN
http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/4450501537.html
Here’s a pretty original looking ’72 2002 in Nashville. The current owner claims that the car was originally from California and has spent the last 13 years in Tennessee. The paint looks a little tired but short of some rust in the spare tire well the rest is said to be sound. The asking but negotiable price of $6250 is probably a realistic value but don’t look for these to get any cheaper. Original roundie 02’s will be the next ones to jump up in value as the Turbos and fuel injected Tii’s have done in recent years. Find this one in Craigslist above with a ’71 parts car included.

New like ’72: A very clean BMW Bavaria
http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/4351957142.html
Here’s a nice looking Bavaira in Bellevue, Washington just outside Seattle. The seller claims that it has a 5-speed transmission which would not be original to this car but it may have one from a newer 5-series. Keep an eye on BMW e3’s and e9’s as non rusty examples aren’t going to get any cheaper. These feature either the 2.8 or 3.0 liter straight six which make them fantastic Autobahn cruisers. Find it above on Craigslist for a negotiable $5,000.
’72 BMW 2002 Shell
Clint from Maryville, TN who’s a friend of the shop has this ’02 body up for sale. The rear shock towers, floors and rockers are said to be very sound. Use this shell in place of a rusty square taillight ’02 or start from scratch to build a vintage rally or track car. Asking price is $750 or best offer. Reply to this post if you’re interested.
Another Grey Market ’85 BMW e30
This time we’ve dug up a 320i in Charlotte, NC. This 1985 Grey Market e30 is a 4-door and has a bit more grunt than the 316 that we featured earlier today. The original 2.0l four that this car would have had has been replaced with an M50 straight six from a ’92 e30 and extensive work has been done to the suspension. The plaid interior, vintage BBS’s and manual transmission make this much more desirable in our book. Find it on Craigslist with an asking price of $8000.
